Dr. Simon Piatek is a strategic digital practitioner and researcher, with over 10 years’ experience in the commercial media and advanced academia, developing new strategies and technologies. He has extensive experience of managing digital projects with a particular focus on Digital Research and Intelligence, Digital Campaigns and Innovative Methodologies. More specifically Simon’s expertise covers Social Network Analysis, Fake News and Disinformation narratives identification and using OSINT techniques to investigate online hostile actions. In the field of Digital Campaigning, Simon specialises in Reputation Management, including advanced SEO, Digital Advocacy and Community Management. Simon developed digital communication plans for several global clients (corporate and individual) as well as provided evaluation of existing digital campaigns.
As an active academic, Simon has been involved in projects and campaigns funded by UNICEF, WHO, UK Government, Facebook and Google on developing new, innovative methodologies to tackle online misinformation and message testing (e.g. vaccination programmes during the Covid-19 pandemic). Simon contributed to scientific reports and papers published in Nature Human Behaviour or Journal of Medical Internet Research.
Simon’s experience ranges from helping successful digital media start-ups to building the digital arm of a global management consultancy. Simon has a degree in Social Research from Goldsmiths College, University of London and PhD in social media narratives at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies, Warwick University.
