CT Group appoints David Hogan-Hern and Alan Eager

CT Group is pleased to announce the appointment of David Hogan-Hern and Alan Eager to
senior positions.
Both have served with distinction in senior national security roles with the British
Government and will bolster the geostrategic and defence capabilities of CT Group in its
delivery of outcomes for clients worldwide through research, intelligence and campaign
services.
These appointments build on the appointment of General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, former
Head of the British Army, as CT Group’s AUKUS Adviser.
Gen Sir Mark said: ”Both David Hogan-Hern and Alan Eager are at the top of their game
and bring unrivalled experience, insight and global influence to CT Group’s growing
international Defence platform.”
Mr Hogan-Hern joins as Global Defence Sector Lead having spent two decades in British
Government positions across the Ministry of Defence, the Cabinet Office and the Foreign
Office. Most recently, David served for three years as the Strategy Director at the Ministry
of Defence. He was previously Director for Euro-Atlantic Security. He also had the
distinction of supporting two British monarchs as Deputy Private Secretary during the
transition year of 2022.
Along with deep expertise in defence and international security, he has exceptional skills in
strategic crisis management, strategy formulation, and the provision of outstanding advice
to the most senior decision-makers in the United Kingdom.
Mr Hogan-Hern said: “CT Group provides unique services to companies dealing with the
increased complexity of global commerce. I am looking forward to working with the firm’s
clients and helping them navigate today’s ever-evolving risk environment.”
Mr Eager, who joins CT Group as Associate Director, was most recently Head of State
Threats at the UK Cabinet Office, where he led responses to hostile state activity from
Russia, China, and Iran. He has held senior roles across the Cabinet Office and Foreign
Office advising Prime Ministers and Cabinet Ministers, and leading UK delegations to
NATO and allied intelligence partners.
He was the Head of Russia, Ukraine and Former Soviet Union for Joint Intelligence
Organisation. Prior to that Alan was at the FCDO developing policy and advice for the
Foreign Secretary on the UK’s engagement with the Chinese government.
Mr Eager said: “I am delighted to be joining CT Group, which is known for providing
valuable clarity and insight on defence and security matters to companies around the
world. I am looking forward to working with the team to build on CT’s highly-regarded
offering.”
The addition of Mr Hogan-Hern and Mr Eager is testament to CT Group’s commitment to
supporting allies and partners globally.
CT Group Executive Chairman Sir Lynton Crosby said: “David and Alan bring exceptional
experience in providing strategic advice to senior decision-makers. Both the defence
industry and the broader geostrategic outlook have evolved significantly in recent years,
and these appointments are an important enhancement to CT Group’s services to our
clients.”

beyond traditional engagement with government. CT’s global team has deep expertise
across the military, civil service, politics and intelligence. Our unrivalled network delivers
geopolitically risk-focused support to clients in a broad range of industries including
