Baroness Helena Morrissey DBE has over three decades’ experience in the financial services sector. This includes 15 years as CEO of Newton Investment Management, during which time the firm’s assets under management grew from £20 billion to £50 billion. Before joining Newton, Baroness Morrissey started her career with asset management firm Schroder’s in New York. She returned to London with Newton, working as a fund manager before being appointed CEO.
Baroness Morrissey was Chair of the Investment Association from 2014 to 2017, the UK investment industry’s trade body, and was Lead Non-Executive Director at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office from July 2020. She transferred to Lead Non-Executive Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in September 2020 and remained in the role until June 2022.
Baroness Morrissey is well known for her work on inclusion and diversity. In 2010, she founded the 30% Club, a business-led campaign for better gender-balanced boards and is a Trustee of the Eve Appeal.
Twice named by Bloomberg as one of the 50 most influential people in global finance, Baroness Morrissey’s influence has spread beyond finance and the City. She has been described by Fortune magazine as one of the world’s 50 Greatest Leaders and was the Financial Times Person of the Year in 2017. In September 2020 she was created Baroness Morrissey, of Chapel Green in the Royal County of Berkshire.
Baroness Morrissey joined the Board of CT Group in January 2025. She holds several director and advisory roles, including Advisory Board member, Edelman; Fellow, Eton College and Chair of the Endowment Fund; Chair Designate, AJ Bell; Fintech Growth Fund; Fidelis Insurance Holdings Ltd and Chair, The Diversity Project.
